Enclomiphene, a derivative of clomiphene citrate, has gained recognition for its ability to stimulate the production of testosterone in the body. Enclomiphene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that is used in the treatment of hypogonadism and infertility in men. It acts by stimulating the production of testosterone in the testes.

Enclomiphene’s journey began as a part of of clomiphene citrate, a drug synthesized in the late 1950s and later approved in the early 1960s. Clomiphene citrate is a mixture consisting of two isomers: enclomiphene and zuclomiphene.In the early 2000s, researchers started to explore enclomiphene independently due to its favorable pharmacokinetic profile and estrogen receptor antagonism. The primary focus shifted towards the treatment of secondary hypogonadism in men, a condition characterized by low testosterone levels due to impaired signaling from the hypothalamus or pituitary gland.
